Mild hearing loss

This is a result for someone around their late 30s who has perhaps lived a little and listened to a bit too much loud music in an agreeably disreputable youth, and who now still gets some decent noise exposures via things like a loud music at home, music in the car or an MP3 player used regularly.

Excess noise generally causes the hearing to start to get worse around the 4 to 6kHz frequency range, typically starting to cause the type of dip you can see above. In hearing testing terms, for someone around 40 years old this would still be a Category 1 result so not too bad and the top mark you can get.

In this music clip, the filter has that slight dip applied but it still sounds mostly OK and not that different from the first piece on the previous page.
